The Val Verde Regional Medical Center (VVRMC) Auxiliary is a group of 35 active women and men who work approximately 600 to 900 hours per month for the hospital in many areas of service, including:
- Working in the gift shop.
- Escorting patients from one area to another.
- Selling popcorn.
- Taking blood pressures.
- Hosting two to three fundraisers throughout the year.
Proceeds from the gift shop and popcorn sales are given to the hospital to purchase equipment and other patient care items. For more information about the auxiliary, call Carlos Torres, Auxiliary Director, at 830.778.3651, or email email@example.com. An application can picked up at the VVRMC human resources department, or contact Clare Aycock, Employment Recruiter at 830.778.3607, firstname.lastname@example.org. Medicine tends to the physical needs of patients. VVRMC understands the importance of other needs. The chaplains strive to meet the spiritual needs of patients and their families. There are currently 18 volunteer chaplains from many different denominations who serve one week at a time on a rotating basis. These dedicated chaplains provide nondenominational support.
For more information call Marvin Wood, pastoral care coordinator, at 830.778.3554, or email at email@example.com.
Hospice provides medical care, comfort and emotional support to terminally ill patients and their families. The hospice team is made up of the patient's physician, skilled nurses and aides, ancillary technicians, social services personnel and volunteers. Some of the volunteers have special training, such as chaplains. Others have a special reason for sharing their compassion.
